Yuto developed deep hatred towards Fusion and refue to use it due to Academia invading his home but he eventually realize that their are good and bad Fusion users, and he should just focus on his hatred towards Academia, and decided to use Fusion in order to become stronger and protect his comrades.Big Brother Instinct: During the Synchro arc Yuto becomes very protective towards Reira and when they first arrive at Synchro, he fought against the security for her safety, and he's one of the few people whom Reira feels comfortable with apart form Reiji.Beware the Nice Ones: He's one of the nicest guys in the series, and even without going his Superpowered Evil Side, he's still really scary when he's pissed off.Whenever he sees Academia soldiers carding and hurting people with smile, Yuto's Superpowered Evil Side triggers him and he becomes very violent.Hurting Ruri, his friends, and family is a easy way to piss off Yuto.
Break the Cutie: Yuto used to be a cheerful boy who simply wanted to enjoy dueling however he witness his hometown getting burned to ashes by Academia, his father getting carded in front of his own eyes, and Ruri getting kidnap by Yuri has hit him so hard. Badass Cape: He wears a black cape which highlights how badass he is as a Duelist. Badass Biker: During the Synchro arc Yuto becomes a turbo Duelist. Ascended Extra: He's the main protagonist in the fic instead of Yuya. Most of the particpant and some of Yuya's friends didn't realize that he was Yuto until he revealed his true identity to them, minus Shark who figured out its Yuto in Yuya's disguise after watching his duel against Kacidohki, Shuzo, Shun, Reiji, and Nakajima were suspicous that the participant isn't Yuya but they only got to know he was Yuto after he revealed to them. After Yuya got absorbed by him, Yoko and Yuzu decide to take Yuto under their wing and Yuto decide to cosplay as Yuya and take his place during the Championship in order to avoid his reputation gettin tarnised. Some Standard characters mistook him for Yuya. When Yugo first arrived at Xyz Dimension he mistook Yuto for Yuri and asumed he was the one who kidnap Rin, but thankfully they both cleared their misunderstanding,. He is also very protective of her counterparts and refuse to hand over them to Academia and is determined to save them from Leo's clutches. Always Save the Girl: Yuto is determined to save Ruri from Academia and after he met Yuzu he became protective of her due to her resemblance towards his girlfriend. He wants a world where people can enjoy dueling peacefully and wants to end the inter dimensional war peacefully without hurting others. Yuto resents hurting people and using duel as a tool for war. All-Loving Hero: Even more so than his canon counterpart. He started off in the fic as a cheerful and absent-minded dork, before becoming a cynical and a broken man he is today. Adaptation Personality Change: In canon Yuto iss mostly The Stoic and reserved, but here he's more emotional and expressive. Adaptational Expansion: His ineraction with Masumi and Sora in #24 has more scenes compared to canon, and he manages to duel them before it gets interupted by Yuzu's bracelet. Here he feels remorseful for unknowingly hurting him. Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In the canon his feelings for hurting Sawatari are unknown. Action Survivor: He's one of the few survivors of Heartland, who fight to protect his people from Academia. 
After Yuya got absorbed by him, Yuto inherited his deck Entermate and his ace Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon. Yuto uses a Phantom Knight deck with his ace being Dark Rebellion Dragon Xyz Dragon and Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon. Despite all the suffering and Trauma he had to good, Despite all the suffering and trauma he went through, Yuto is still kindhearted who aims to end the conflict peacefully and refuse hurt others.
In order to find her, Yuto along with his friends Shun, Shark, and O'Brien left for the Standard Dimension to gather intelligence and they aim to restore Heartland back to normal, defeat Academia and stop the inter dimensional war for good. Worse, in the middle of it all, his best friend's sister and girlfriend was kidnapped. His life was uprooted when Academia arrived and laid waste to Heartland, carding anyone they encountered. In Pendulum of Hope Yuto is the main protagonist and Ruri's boyfriend.
